2011 Kentucky Derby Museum Hat Contest Winners Announcement
For Immediate Release (Louisville, KY: June 22, 2011) Congratulations to one of this year’s Kentucky Derby Museum Hat Contest winners, Sandra Nagel Whitworth of West Bloomfield, MI. The museum received over 50 hat entries and of those entries only 20 hats were selected for display.
Whitworth’s hat was designed by her and is a blue headband/hat with feathers and yellow accents.
Hats are essential to the Kentucky Derby experience. Choosing the right hat for the occasion is as important as betting on the right horse. On Derby day fancy hats, themed hats and goofy hats unite to uphold the long standing tradition. The Derby Museum glorifies this tradition by bringing the hat experience right to our visitors. Our Derby Hat Contest winners display a broad range of designer and novelty men and women’s hats showcasing trending styles.
A photo of Whitworth’s hat is attached to this release. Whitworth’s hat is one of 20 currently on display in the It’s My Derby exhibit and will stay there until June, 2012.

Feathers from the Americas and abroad, Swarovski crystals, pearls, and rich fabrics are used to create gorgeous lightweight headpieces and birdcage veils for your special occasions. Breeziway has several lines of designs that include pieces for brides, wedding parties, mothers of the bride or groom, and other occasions such as homecomings and proms. Choose from over 75 designs or use them to help us design your own special hair complement. Feathers may be used in their natural glory or dyed to match the fabric of your gown.

Although most of our designs are typically mounted on combs, we can easily mount most of them on headbands or hairclips of assorted varieties. Please, feel free to inquire about these options.
PLEASE NOTE: We sell and price our headpieces and veiling separately to allow maximum flexibility for our clients while planning their designs. Nonetheless, we will sometimes picture these elements together in photos to allow you to see how these options look. The pricing of headpieces will not include any veiling pictured, unless in rare instances the veiling is an integral part of the design. If this is the case, it will be clearly noted in the design description. If you wish to add a veil to your headpiece, you can look in that product category for options.
